Our high-tech gadgets, like the ringtone we eagerly long for or the likes we seek on social media--the second after we post it-, deliver instant rewards that can make us addicted to these quick pleasure bursts. This shift in focus often leads us away from meaningful connections with ourselves and others, making us chase constant, materialistic gratification—something I’ve experienced myself. And checking your phone first thing in the morning always ruins my mornings not only because of the the blue light exposure the second you wake up, but the quick scroll of posts with everyone's best selves-- you suddenly feel like you are not worthy.
